Into The West
Your sweet and weary head
The night is falling
You have come to journey’s end
And dream of the ones who came before
They are calling
From across the distant shore
Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away
Safe in my arms
You’re only sleeping

Sadly the last hours of the Faire is upon us and soon the Fairelands will be fading away for another year. So many beautiful lands brought to us by grand designers, the merchants whom have brought us much joy with their creations for the Faire, the DJ’s who kept our feet dancing into the early hours of the morning, performers who wow’ed us on Opal flight. We also have to thank the people who are behind the scenes of the Faire whom we don’t necessarily see by way of products or sims. The people whom make the Faire happen every year from deciding the themes, setting up us merchants and keeping us bloggers busy.
I was lucky enough to get into the Fantasy Faire this year, primarily as a blogger first with many thanks to Sonya Marmurek, and then as a merchant when there was a couple of spaces free. This is the first time I have been on the backstage and be able to participate on this level. It opened my eyes so much as to what goes into running this huge meta-event, from rogue RFL boards resetting themselves, setting up shop and getting to see the lands before it was finally all opened to the public. A bunch of us hid on a sim in a corner and watched you all pile in, smiling with excitement and joy of the events that was ahead of us and raising the money for Relay For Life – American Cancer Society.
Let’s not forget a very special thank you to Linden Labs who gave us an extra four days to shop and raise more money for RFL this year. Thank you!
From the Faire I have made some new and special friends which means alot to me. Some of those friends are just absolutely crazy fun like our Broccoli Queen Janire, owner of Belle Epoque, Sharnie Azzale, owner of The Looking Glass, and one very special “deer” that likes to send you spinning and keeping you on your toes Kilik Lekvoda. Just watch the video below to see what I mean! There are so many more to add. And it’s great to see some familiar faces from Faire’s past like Zander Greene, who likes pixies, Alia Baroque, Fallen Gods Inc Owner, with his crazy penguin driving tour bus!
There has been many fun moments and exciting moments from setting up to the last day of the Faire, that it is so hard to choose a favourite. I am looking forward to coming back to the Faire next year which be a very extra special Fantasy Faire next year. Why is next year’s extra special? Because it will be 10 years of the Fantasy Faire in Second Life, so let’s break even more barriers next year! We broke the L$8 Million mark this year which saw Da5id Abbot in a dress and heels, let’s see what mile-stone we can break next year.
Don’t forget Fantasy Faire radio is on the air all year round now, so you can always carry apart of the Faire with you wherever you go. Add them to winamp, your browser favorites.
So for now I wish you a great year and look forward to seeing you next year at the Fantasy Faire, which is a special and unique event. I leave you with just some of the many many photos I have taken during the Faire, which can be found HERE.
We may not be able to take the Fairelands with us, but we will always have the memories, the photos and the RFL exclusives that we brought.
Fantasy Faire 2017 will always be with us in our hearts and memories. Go Relay!
